Tis Time for Halloween
Now, I haven’t always been a lover of Halloween, to be quite honest we never do anything on Halloween. Very rarely have I dressed up or gone to a Halloween party.
I feel like my whole family just isn’t a lover of Halloween, although it does mean that we’re one step closer to Christmas!!
It maybe controversial but we will not be taking our daughter trick or treating until she is old enough to understand why we haven’t taken her and then she is able to make her own decision as to whether she wants to go and how to trick or treat safely.
We have always said Halloween is a strange one, whilst growing up I was always told to not take sweets from strangers, so why are we promoting it for one day a year?
Don’t get me wrong there are some lovely people in this world, but also equally a lot of bad people and you just don’t know who is the other side of the door you’re knocking on.
I will allow Phoebe to go to Halloween parties etc but we just do not feel comfortable with the whole trick or treating whilst she’s young until we can explain and when you say don’t take sweets from strangers,’ oh wait actually you can today because it’s Halloween.
Halloween isn’t just about trick or treating though and we will always do some Halloween things at home. Such as watching Halloween films, dressing up, parties, pumpkin picking and just all round fun.
I LOVE Hocus Pocus, it is one of my favourite films and brings me straight back to my childhood. Sitting there with a hot chocolate. I do love things surrounding Halloween though.
Phoebe used to watch Halloween nursery rhymes all year round but recently she’s been a bit scared of certain ones so we have to steer away from them.
This is just the start of my Halloween themed posts, keep an eye out for my Halloween Playlist, top 5 Halloween films, Halloween outfits for all the family and pumpkin picking and carving!
As always
