Fun Ideas To Keep The Family Active In Lockdown
While a lot of us would shy away from exercise under normal circumstances, under lockdown it’s been the highlight of many people’s day! Not only is exercise a great activity to keep you occupied, but it’s also important when you can’t leave the house as you would normally.
But even without much else to do, the novelty of daily exercise can soon wear off. You need to stay interested and motivated, which can be difficult when you’ve also got the whole family to think of. Making things fun will help keep you all on track and make sure you stay fit and healthy during the lockdown period.
Here are some fun ideas to keep the family active in lockdown.

Set challenges
Is your family a competitive one? If so, then they won’t be able to resist a fitness challenge or two. From being the first to complete so many steps to different exercises you can set yourselves, you won’t be short of challenges to try, and everyone can take it in turns to come up with their own!
Why not create some obstacle courses around the house or in the garden as a fun boot camp-style challenge?

There are a lot of people providing some excellent free content to help people make it through lockdown. If you haven’t seen it already, check out P.E. with Joe. Joe Wicks is hosting daily workouts at 9 am to help kids (and their parents) stay fit during lockdown. It’s a great way to start the day and helps children burn off some energy – helping them settle down to do some work afterwards.
Treat yourselves to new workout wear
Some new gym clothes can be excellent motivation to exercise, so why not treat yourselves to some new items during lockdown? Most of your top stores are still delivering, and you can get some on-trend boys skinny joggers that they’ll love. Workout wear doubles up as loungewear, so it’s perfect for staying at home right now.
Play games in the garden
The weather has been glorious lately, giving you the perfect excuse to spend some time in the garden. There’s a lot of fun games you could play that will help you all stay fit, including sports like football and tennis. You can also revisit some classics like frisbee to help you all have a bit of fun while the sun’s out.
Dealing with lockdown is difficult for everyone, but for families it can be especially tough to make sure everyone is kept active and entertained. Staying fit is important, but there are also other things you could do to stay happy and motivated. Gardening is ideal for improving your mental health, while tackling different home projects can have your home sparkling in no time. Keeping busy is important but it’s nice to spend quality time together too – soon this will be over, and you’ll be able to enjoy being out and about together once more.
