Starting A Children’s Sport Team
If you have a lively community with a lot of children around the same age – but not much going on, then arranging a sports team can be a lot of fun! A sports team can help bring your neighbours together and keep your children active.
Starting your own little sports isn’t a small undertaking, but once it is up and running, you can get into playing local leagues.
So if you are ready to build a little team filled with energetic and bubbly children, here are a few ways that you can make it happen!

Where
One of the most important things you need to look at is the possible locations where you can hold your team. Usually somewhere with an indoor and outdoor space so that you can make the most of the location throughout the year.
You might have some interest from children who are outside of the immediate location too, so try to make it close to good transport links or with parking.
Budget
Starting a school team will cost some money – but it might not be as costly as you think. You’ll need to make sure that you have considered things like stationery, kit, membership fee collection, equipment, teachers, or other professionals (although it is possible to run with volunteers).
And you’re going to want your team to feel like a cool team straight away by finding sports kit designers online to give you a slick look.
PayPal is one of the easiest ways to collect fees for membership – and make most online orders too.
Get help
If you have friends and family that can help you get your team up and running, that is great! Often you will find a few parents who would love to get involved too.
When you have a few more hands-on-decks, you can find things like transporting the kids to matches, picking up membership fees, organisations, bookings, and more become easier. You’ll need to keep an updated information sheet for each of the children who attend and their next of kin, plus emergency contacts.
You will likely want to start a social media account so that you can share what you are doing. This is a great way to find sponsors who would like to contribute to the team.
Roster
If you start out with a small team, but over time that grows, you are going to have to learn how to balance a roster – and get it sent to parents and carers nice and quickly.
You should also make sure that you have all of the practices, games, what the children will be doing and any special events planned well in advance.
Starting a kids sports team can be a very fulfilling way to spend your free time and a great way to spend more time with your own children.
Team sports can offer children so much in terms of learning, social skills, and teamwork – not to mention getting plenty of incredible exercise and fun with friends!
